Is gib pronounced "gib" or "jib"?

Argument with a few friends today over whether your chunks of flesh in Quake have a G or a J sound.

How do you all pronounce it?

In terms of Quake, the word comes from "giblets" (I assume), which is pronounced "jibblets."

However, "jibblets" is a moronic sounding word and I refuse to say it, and thus say "gib."

edit: btw, I just looked up "gib" out of curiousity and apparently it really is a word, but not one anyone uses. It's pronounced "gib" and refers to either a castrated cat or a wedge or something. Huh.

Carmack and Romero say "jib". At least that's what I read somewhere.
