the British media are in full propaganda mode, describing Chavez as the "autocratic, controversial" president who has "ruled" Venezuela for 13 years. "ruled"? wtf? the guy had the kind of vote share that most of the robotic platitud-o-trons we call politicians in the West can only dream of

i look forward to the following sentences appearing in any 'respectable' mainstream news outlet any time soon:
George W Bush, the controversial and autocratic former president who invaded Iraq based on lies, illegally wiretapped his own citizens and extended executive power, ruled the United States from 2000 to 2008. His successor Barack Obama - the current ruler of the United States - is controversially killing hundreds of civilians (including many children) in Pakistan with illegal drone strikes, while autocratically assuming the right to assassinate anyone he wants - including citizens of his own country - without even the slightest judicial oversight.
needless to say, the "anti-American firebrand" Chavez did none of these things :smirk:
