Entertaining? Maybe for people who have difficulty keeping their shirts drool-free.

I've never been a big fan of super hero movies (with the notable exception of the dark knight, because, you know, Heath Ledger is awesome in that flick), but if people enjoy that shit then well, let 'em

Ryoki wrote:Usually i take the superheroes are proto fascists approach, hilarious conversations garuanteed. In the Nolan batman universe, this actually holds true (it's stunningly obvious if you pay attention to it). I've never seen anything so popular more openly glorify fascism, except maybe for 300. Same guy though i think, yeah?
You are reading way to much into it.
FYI, Batman and 300 have no relation to each other in terms of having the same writers or producers or anything. That goes for both the movies and the comics.

edit:
Ryoki, you'll love this segment on Wikipedia :olo:

edit2:
Seems like my original statement wasn't entirely correct. Frank Miller, author of the 300 comics, did write a Batman mini-series of comics as well. But Batman was originally envisioned by Bob Keane.

Aye, Miller, that's the cunt i mean. Was too lazy to type something myself about the fascism thing, so i googled this article that explains it, have a read:
Fascism may not always be palatable or pleasant, the film tells us, but it is necessary and it works. At no point in the movie do fascist solutions fail, except in cases where they are not fascist enough. The strongmen who Do What Must Be Done, the classic excuse of the fascist, are always right. When the Gotham police are led into a trap, it is under the command of Gordon’s successor, who is shown to be a cowardly quisling who only redeems himself by putting on a uniform and shooting scruffy people.

In short, The Dark Knight Rises posits a conflict between the form of fascism some Americans currently favor, and a strawman version of their imagined opponents, and places the center of moral good firmly on the pro-fascist side. This isn’t even subtext, it’s just text in context. I’m sorry if this ruins the movie for anyone.

The more I think about it, the more I hate TDKR. Nolan turned Batman into yet another dick-waving flag parade of AMMURICUH HOOAH
