Raspberry PI is a totally different product. The PI is a full-on ARM PC (which means lots of linux options) with expandable local storage and HDMI out. It is a raw piece of hardware designed to interact with other bits of hardware and sensors using the GPIO pins. It is far from being a consumer product and is a hobbyist product at best.

The Dell is just a USB dongle that grants you access to a proprietary cloud instance without local storage.

No thanks. I don't want to be bound by my internet connection if I want to use my computer.

I didn't think a coffin was being made for open platforms. In fact, I think we're about to enter an age where open platforms are going to thrive and possibly make it hard for console manufacturers to appeal to the hardcore gaming crowd.

i think microsoft would do ok if they stuck to thier way instead of trying to follow apple and what not.

nobody can beat you when you are being you because there can only be one you, so being yourself guarantees awesomeality

i think that rule applys to microsoft
it is about time!

or, we're entering an age of 'tabletisation' in which major players in the OS market decide there's money to be made by restricting users to what can be acquired via an app store

hope i'm wrong. it's just that there's a historical trend of free 'space' being opened up by some revolutionary act (invention of the printing press, or even just a plain old revolution) then being gradually closed down as a new status quo asserts itself

Are people really calling tablet computing "revolutionary"?
If "yes", how many of those people work for marketing firms?

hey look, the microsoft tablet everyone's been saying will suck for months now, actually does suck

one of the reviewers nailed it: too many compromises. a desktop and a iPad/Android cover all the bases better than this overpriced POS

I work all day only to come back and hear you nag and complain. A real housewife would have at least cooked me dinner.
