It's a sales driven market. That's the point. Slap a new logo, make it new and improoved, and a bunch of idiots buy it. What's so difficult to understand?

They don't even need a logo, or being new and improved. There are a lot of companies that just budget for OS upgrades as soon as they know they're being released by MS.

Honestly though, alternative operating systems are available at cheaper costs. If there's a demand, they'll produce new versions of windows.

Yeah except that hasn't been the case with the last two OS' at all. Both 2K and XP had major improvements in feature-set, user friendliness, policies (XP introduced 300+ new ones over 2k), managability, and security/stability.
