NRA shooting simulator

Post by Eraser »

Yep, after calling the games industry "a callous, corrupt, and corrupting shadow industry that sells and sows violence against own people" the NRA has now gone and released their own shooting game for iOS. Unsurprisingly, the game is terrible.

But that's not all! This game is rated 4+. Yes, according to the NRA, it's suitable for children of 4 years and above. And that's because you're not shooting live targets and, guess what, it comes with gun safety tips. Yes. That makes it alright. Or as the NRA itself puts it:

"It strikes the right balance of gaming and safety education, allowing you to enjoy the most authentic experience possible."

Nevermind that most 4 year olds can't read yet.

Of course, the most important thing is that it's meant as an informative tool:

"NRA: Practice Range puts the NRA’s broad scope of resources in the palm of your hand – with 2nd Amendment newsfeeds, gun law information centers and educational materials that you can access anywhere, anytime."

2nd amendment newsfeed? Really?

The game itself is free, but there are in-app purchases, like the AK-47 assault rifle, the MK11 sniper rifle and the Dragunov SVD sniper rifle, at $0.99 each. Exactly what you need for some good old fashioned gun safety instructions.

Lovely, isn't it?

Are there any levels where you shoot clumps of dirt?
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.

You have to shoot over the targets for bonus points.

yes donny, but it could be a shot in the arm for the NRA, who've been staring down the barrel of gun control legislation, but on the other hand they might just have to bite the bullet etc etc

"How dumb can you get? How insulting can you be? They are tone deaf. You can quote me on any of that," Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy said on Tuesday
luckily, the devs aren't changing their tune.
..when game devs and critics call the game 'terrible,' as some have done, the NRA can simply respond that our community must only want to partake of the violent uses of firearms, and that's why we are unable to appreciate a firing range simulator.

lol yeah...why have "fun" in a "game"?

If you're not into standing still and shooting at dirt piles, then you no doubt lust over carnage and splatter that guns bring, rather than the "joy" of simply pulling the trigger. :dork:

Stupid people can twist logic in ways that make my brain hurt.

I bet the game isn't terrible because of the fact that it's about a shooting range, it's terrible because of the amateurish implementation and broken gameplay mechanics.

it's terrible because it's a game in which, every time you play, you play as YourLamepa. all it needs is 'wire the fuse box' and 'marry the gash-faced trailer park whore' minigames for the experience to be complete
