Preaching to the choir, but:

Studies shows that 92-97% of kids play video games, and 70% of all Americans. I bet most of the victims and other kids in the school played video games too. One could argue that playing video games will make you into a victim of a random mass shooting.

It becomes readily apparent that violent video games cannot be a cause of murder, simply because the numbers do not match up. 6.7 million players of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" against 16,425 murders in the United States represents somewhere around one quarter of one percent of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2", and this doesn't even account for the murderers who have never played any video game, let alone those who bought and played other violent video games instead of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2". "Far Cry 3" only recently came out, you know. "Battlefield 3", "Crysis", three "Skyrim" expansions...even assuming the same people bought those that bought "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2", that still represents a whole lot of people who play without killing.

Video games...let's not place blame on the kid who was troubled, or the mom who kept easy access to guns and showed him how to use them, or poor judgement by the parent by doing so. let's blame video games, cnn is so fucking painfull and it seems like everyone i talk to over the net or in person believes this. Yet they are still able to broadcast the absolute lunacy to the public. How about for once show some compassion to the families and not bring this situation up everyday because you think you'll get a rattings boost for it. It's so fucking infuriating, a bunch of babies are dead, they'll never get to experiance the joys of life, freedoms, meeting a girl, having kids/grandkids, travel. blaming violence on videogames is a strictly niche pursuit these days. the last time i can remember that having any traction with the general public was Columbine (Doom lolz). in the 15-20 years since then, not only have games gotten more realistic looking, but also the message has sunk in that the games/violence link is bullshit put about by conservatives trying to ruin everyone's fun
