How different are dogfighting and football?

Post by U4EA »

Fascinating article on American football and the longterm mental issues that players have to deal with. Also compares it with dogfighting in that it's fundamentally a betrayal of trust to the players/dogs from their respective "owners".

Good read, started .... but have to come back & finish as it is long :smirk:

I never understood the apparent fascination with 'football', especially the aggressive contact varieties; the non sphere shaped ball ones.

Wonder. is that because I played soccer in my early years and can still talk about it

At least dogs don't murder their girlfriends and then commit suicide.

Incidentally, this was posted over at slashdot:
"On the heels of the latest NFL suicide, researchers announced today that 34 NFL players whose brains were studied suffered from CTE, a degenerative brain disease brought on by repeated hits to the head that results in confusion, depression and, eventually, dementia.
