Doubtful. Understand that 99.999999% of all construction "issues", scheduling and delays are due to dishonest construction companies...a large percentage of them owned and run by organized crime. The reason the Chinese will build it so quickly is because the construction company won't be wasting time trying to figure out how to overcharge for materials and undercut build quality to save a few bucks. It's no coincidence that most structural collapses are due to sub-par construction.

I've said it many, many times: the reason why nuclear energy isn't really viable (when it bloody well should be) is because of dishonest construction companies cutting corners in every.single.thing.they.do...the fucking assholes. If they built the thing the way they were supposed to (and paid to) you'd never hear of the dangers facing nuclear energy production.

I get your point and China does have the "benefit" of having no worker's unions and little in ways of safety regulations so workers can build structures at [cough]breakneck[/cough] speeds. However, saying that they don't overcharge and undercut is a mistake, China now has plenty of privatized construction companies who pull worse scams and take advantage of their lack of building standards and paid off inspectors.

Remember that earthquake in China a few years back where most of the city remained undamaged but a school collapsed and killed a bunch of kids? They later found that the construction company cheapened out and used concrete mixed with too much aggregate and not nearly enough rebar steel. So the whole building crumbled with a relatively mild earthquake.

This wouldn't have happened under [strike]Steve Jobs[/strike] Mao Zedong.

The police or privately hired thugs come and beat the shit out of the construction workers who are owned 1-2 years of wages. The boss runs away to another province with all his money, and the workers never get paid.
