What kind of doctor should I see?

Post by R00k »

I managed to do something to my ankle yesterday. I'm not sure what, I expect the bone is a little bruised, maybe I twisted it somehow without knowing, or maybe there is even a small fracture or something.

I'm off work today obviously, and I'm trying to find the right doctor to see in my PPO network, but I'm not sure what kind of specialty to look for; orthopedics isn't listed anywhere.

What is the specialty name for the field I'm looking for?

don't they have general practitioners over there?

guess the ankle's a little high up for a chiropodist.

give me a field name! >:E

I'm having to use the benefits website to find a doctor, and I have to choose from a long list of specialties to get what I want.

No shit. If there's no protruding bone just walk it off, fairy.

Go to a regular walk-in clinic and have a doctor look at it and forward you to the correct doctor/hospital for xrays.

Yea I know. Normally I wouldn't even bother with all this mess, I hate going to doctors anyway.

But I've injured this ankle before a long time ago, and even though it's not swollen I think it may have a stress fracture or something.

I can't stand or walk on it, and I don't want to miss anymore work than I have to over this. :icon8:

If you were in the UK, I'd just say to go to your local A&E department.

I've already decided to let it heal on its own. Especially after 2 hours on the phone with HR, Healthcare and Insurance reps reminded me why I hate doctors in the first place.

It should be fine in a couple days, fuck it.
