tl;dr - wait for win9

Yeah but following that pattern win 9 will be win 8 with a bit of graphics and changes so people don't realize it's the same...

The people that shit talk Vista then love 7 kill me. :)

So please reply as to is it worth doing the upgrade as I was considering.......
I am old school: If it ain't broke don't fix it, so I am wondering if there are any advantages/advances worth the update/upgrade :)

Sorry but that's nonsense.
Vista on my work PC is annoying. It's slow, takes ages to fully start up and gives me a BSOD from time to time. Never had such problems with Win7 on my home PC.

You don't have to even upgrade. I bought the upgrade retail box and it let me do a clean install on a brand new HDD without even asking for a previous DVD. Once I booted into Windows it cried about my key not being valid for a clean install but all I had to do was change two registry settings to make it look like my install was an upgrade from downloaded media.

One thing to note, if you want Media Center it is not part of the base Windows install. It will be a $10 feature pack but if you go to their site before Jan 2013 you can have them email you a free serial for it. You can do it now and just hold the key. Email takes about 30 hours though...

My free Expert Zone license just came in, and I'm using it on my primary system. The new Start Menu interface isn't that big of a deal since I used the search on Windows 7. I think people are making a big deal out of nothing. The Windows Mobile interface was fantastic as well. Overall, I think people are morons. However, don't go out of your way to upgrade if you already have Windows 7. In my case, this was free. The upgrade key offer is worth it as well since you can still do a clean re-install.

In my case, this PC is joined to my lab domain. I suppose I'll have an enterprise opinion the more I play with it.

Please elaborate. :owned:

Shoot me a PM if you have to. In my experience with an upgrade copy of Win 7, all I had to do was call MS support and they would provide a temp key that would allow me to activate the OS.

Still waiting on my copy from Microsoft... hoping they don't fuck it up.

When I needed Microsoft Office installed on my system, Microsoft was going to send me a license key but required that I fill out a form (because I was getting it though my work). They emailed the form to me in Microsoft Word format. :dork:

That's hilarious...

I know that some websites will allow you to load a word document so that you can view and even edit it. In case it happens again...

Huh? Windows RT has a desktop environment? I'm surprised, I thought it hadn't. Anyway, why would you want to use the desktop environment on a tablet?

He does seem like a huge Apple nerd though.
