Brain of steel, more like; it's a dumb thing to do.mrd wrote:Well if you got 3 dodgy things going for ya, can't blame ya. I'm sure this guy is riding a $10,000 downhill machine with full body armour. But yeah... fuck that. I once saw a clip of this rider named Bender (old, ~10 years ago) doing a 60 ft drop. I thought that was crazy... it wasn't even a jump. Just a cliff drop into a sand pit. I think he broke his foot or both or his legs or something fucking retarded. He rebounded off the sand and flew headfirst into a tree
Anyway, balls of steel
Or, in other words: There's brave, and there's stupid. What you described is stupid.
Re: 23 mile skydive
He hit the ramp with way too much speed, sending him too high. he knew he needed to get away from the bike to survive the crash.Tsakali wrote:am I missing something? why the fuck did he bail off the bike at the end?
Re: 23 mile skydive
Custom DH'er, no armor. he had a vest top on.mrd wrote:

Wow, that was fucking awesome. 128,000 ft up and he hit 704 mph!
Re: 23 mile skydive
They're now reporting that he hit 833.9 mph, or Mach 1.24, at one point

Kittinger still holds the longest free fall record
Whether intentional or not, that's pretty cool.
Re: 23 mile skydive
That was pretty fucking crazy, you can tell he lost control around mach 1 and regained it shortly after he started decelerating.
I heard him say something about passing out in the live feed as he was falling. I'm guessing things weren't smooth.

Re: 23 mile skydive
he said he thought he was about to pass out, feeling lightheaded. this was mostly because of the spinning.
