It can do split screen where it runs two apps simultaneously and has a number of quickly accessible apps called "minis" that you can run floating on top of the other apps (small stuff like a calculator, your agenda, email, a notes app, mp3 player and some others I forgot).
Multitasking like that is really handy, especially on a 10.1" screen because it's large enough for it.
looks like it's fucking shit

check that video. why ship features that clearly don't work? it's insulting to pay for that. Nexus 7 seems like the only not-totally-shit iPad alternative.
Ok, honestly, that video is so full of untruths it's not funny anymore. It's obviously a sloppy reviewer. I'll list the mistakes here:
- The side-drawer that comes up when you take out the pen can be configured to either show up, not show up or to automatically start a predefined app.
- The blooping sounds can easily be turned off.
- No mention of all the other S-Pen enabled apps on there or available through Samsung's own market place. Hell, it comes pre-loaded with PS Touch, which is a mobile version of photoshop that's very feature rich and fully supports the S-Pen.
- He's looking for problems with the handwriting recognition, because it seems near perfect to me. It rarely misinterprets what I want to write. Seriously, it's probably the best handwriting recognition I've ever used.
- Almost all S-Pen enabled apps can deal with your palm resting on the touch screen surface while using the S-Pen to write or draw. The argument that it gets confused in non-S-Pen apps is a bit nonsensical, because that wouldn't work on an iPad while using your fingers either. It's not like it works worse than other tablets.
- Also, he's looking for problems with split screen. Sure, it's a damn shame that not all apps can run like this but the laggy response is exaggerated. When you realize that it isn't sluggish, it just needs half a second to "activate" the other program, you know that a simple tap in the other screen before doing other things isn't really a problem anymore. Besides, it's functionality on top of Android. If you don't like the functionality, then don't use it. It's not like the presence of this functionality makes it a worse product. Oh, and is it insulting to pay for features that don't work? How about the maps app on iPhone 5? That's not insulting? lol fanbois.
- Also, the example of the video player slowing things down, that's simply not true. He's showing it on top of split screen apps and then continues to switch back and forth between them, basically just showing the "lag" that is inherent to the split-screen functionality.
- There
is handwriting recognition on the keyboard. It's right there under that button with the cogwheel on it. Tap that, then tap the handwriting button on the panel that extrudes from the button and you're in handwriting mode. Sloppy reviewing right there.
- Finally, he's comparing an Android 4.0.4 tablet to an Android 4.1 tablet. Of course the 4.1 tablet is going to be smoother, that's the whole point of 4.1. But Samsung has already announced they'll be releasing a 4.1 upgrade for the tablet this year.
