Tanis Baker, 21, dressed in black body armour, masked his face with a balaclava and armed himself with a wooden sword and smoke bombs, at Beechwood Park around 12.30am on September 6.
Cwmbran Magistrates Court heard yesterday how he sat crouched on top of the park gates keeping watch for criminals when he was spotted by a police officer.

I thought the judge was pretty harsh n all, 12 months supervised with 60 hours community service, know krack dealers down here who repeat offend don't get half that :/, looking at the article I think this is someone that needed to be helped rather than punished n all

the police hate the critique implied in the existence of freelance 'crime fighters', namely the suggestion that what the police are doing is inadequate
Sentence doesn't sound horrible, tbh. Perhaps a fine would have been more appropriate? I don't know. A year isn't long and 60 hours service isn't much either. I guess that means he can't fight crime for a year though... unless he's really good...

Aye I guessed, an I know it's not that bad a sentence, jus thought it might not be best to put someone who's confused and suffering self esteem issues through the mill or on the front page of his local news , thought he would've been better off being referred to a counselor or someshit like. Might just be getting soft in my old age.
He was attacked by a gang of youths whilst out with his sister a year ago, but police were unable to find the offenders.
Since then Baker has wanted to help the police to protect society, magistrates were told.
When asked what he would have done if he encountered a crime, Baker admitted he had not thought that far ahead.
A probation officer, who assessed him, said the comic book fan seemed to get confused between fantasy and reality and sometimes had trouble distinguishing between what was in comic books and what was real life.
