Fucking wicked Jap games

Post by bitWISE »

That game thread reminded me that I probably hadnt shown you guys these sweet ass games I found a while back.

Torus Trooper

This has to be the most insanely fast game I have ever played. On expert level you are basically holding down fire and hoping that you dont get hit. Reminds me of those bonus levels in Sonic.

rRootage

This one has spectacular, unique visuals but the game play isn't anything exciting. Like playing Galaga while on acid (I suppose).

TUMIKI Fighters

This one is the coolest god damn thing ever. I have never seen anything play or look like this. When you kill an enemy (even a boss) they fall apart and if you fly your ship into the part it sticks on and functions as a shield and an addition weapon. The only problem is the bigger you get the more likely all your shit will get blown off. Otherwise its your basic side scrolling shooter.

That first game was fucking crazy. Oddly enough I managed to do better on Extreme mode.

man the torus game is awesome! I'm on level 15 in hard mode.

can't figure out something though - sometimes the pink bullets don't kill me - do they have to hit u a certain way to kill you? or do the diff shaped pink bullets mean diff things?

trying to break the 8000 kph barrier - almost got it a couple times :)

also sometimes you go faster easier - is it to do with the slope of the tunnel?

(i know that the sides slow you down so it's not that)

not sure on this but...

it seems that the little pink bullets are just the fragments of ships you've blown up. whereas the bigger more rounder ones are actually bullets that will hurt you.

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Fo' sho.
Great game, although it could do with some pulsing music in the background.
'course, Space Tripper from the same guys is great too.

Time to pimp mono again I think...

As well as the rather fantastic mono, he's got a couple of other real corkers there.
Not Japanese, rather North-of-England, but still, same sort of genre / feel.

Oh yeah, and DO NOT dismiss Gridrunner++ by the fabulous Jeff Minter (now for OSX too).
At first glance, the graphics aren't anything special, but the gameplay is rock-solid and hard as buggery at the later levels.

think i figured it out - u have to be hit dead on by a bullet.

i'm on level 40 in extreme - max speed i've ever reached i think is just under 11 thousand kph

btw this game OWNS!!
