So, that Nintendo thing...
So, that Nintendo thing...
I'm completely confused as to what the Wii U is going to end up like. How powerful is it supposed to be? Nintendo keeps talking about "recapturing the hardcore", but unless it can compare graphically with other Next-Gen systems, I don't see that.
The thing looks the size of a Wii, and still has an optical drive, so unless they're using some kind of epic secret cooling technology anything pushing cutting edge graphics in that form factor is going to have monstrous heat problems.
I really don't "get" the tablet thing. Maybe it will make sense when I see some kind of use for it?

Is the tablet thing 3D like the 3DS?

Nope it's notDTS wrote:Is the tablet thing 3D like the 3DS?
I can see how the tablet controller can be useful, but it won't provide revolutionary new gameplay features.
In terms of processing power, I believe the Wii U is comparable to current gen hardware (xbox 360 and PS3), so basically it's DOA, seeing as how most of the (launch) games are PS3 and XBox 360 games with second screen functionality tacked on.

Re: So, that Nintendo thing...
the tablet controller has a batterylife of a whopping 5 hrs max.
luckily they have a 'hardcore' controller in the works, without the screen. most of us call it the 360 controller.
surely they are trolling.

I wish they were. They're probably all Ninja like serious about it.
Re: So, that Nintendo thing...
its like what the dreamcast did before. or what they tried with the gamecube and its GBA-connection.
stop trying to force innovation, it doesnt work.
that goes for kinect and move, too.

Re: So, that Nintendo thing...
You can use the tablet as the main screen can't you? So you wouldn't need a TV.
Re: So, that Nintendo thing...
dont think so, i think its only meant as an augment.
much like what xbox is now doing with smartglass.
sony got it right with their Vita remoteplay functionality; using your ps3 and beaming the video to your handheld == uber.

Re: So, that Nintendo thing...
I see it as useful for splitscreen DM where only the tablet screen shows your inventory, e.g. ammo.

What other yoghurt is there?Don Carlos wrote:Kittens and natural yoghurt

Besides, I meant in the videogaming arena. I don't see how kittens and yoghurt fit into it. Something like that taxidermist cat-copter that dispenses yoghurt as prizes?

The nextbox will be the daddy of consoles simply because they are laying good foundations with the current gen xbox.
Live is an awesome service and they are making great progress with the intergration of "normal house hold" things. So we have video streaming, Facebooks etc etc all from the Xbox. This will all be available from day 1 on the nextbox. Also with the shift away from Microsoft points to real money people are more likely to spend money on Live.
The PS3 is only half way through its life cycle if you listen to Sony and they have not made enough money yet to warrent another new console. Microsoft will steal a march again and will have the superior product. Sony are barking up the wrong tree (Vita...) and they will not be able to bridge the gap in time leaving Microsoft to fly away into the distance with all our pennies

Francis is awesome.
Re: So, that Nintendo thing...
Actually, I remember them showing this exact feature some time ago. You could turn off your TV and continue playing on the handheld device.MKJ wrote:dont think so, i think its only meant as an augment.
