Heh cool. Those Jazz Jackrabbit tunes bring back some sweet memories.

Shame Epic was too lazy to pack 'em all together in one convenient zip file.

don't think i've ever played an Epic game with the music on. in fact, the only games i've *ever* played with music on were HL2, AoE, Doom and classic Quake. mostly music is just annoying

What? Sure, in multiplayer games that may hold true, but in single player games music is often a very important part of the experience.

If you've played the original Unreal with the music disabled, then you've really been missing out. The music in there was epic (no pun intended).

Oh btw, I feel cheated. That MP3 they got up as the Unreal main theme (track 3).... that's not the Unreal theme is it? To me, this piece of music embodies the Unreal brand:

They omitted the best song from the best Epic game ever. Faggots.

lol Epic...the game studio that thinks loud music is "intense" and believes that it actually contributes to gameplay.

Vapid, repetitive shit....over and over again until you fucking die from boredom.

Fags.

This reminds me of that automated flythrough/benchmark sequence around the castle.

Just to clarify, when I said "Vapid, repetitive shit" I meant Epic's games.

Tyrian is awesome, though it wasn't developed by Epic (just published by Epic). Maybe that's why it wasn't shit.

The first Unreal Tournament wasn't bad, though clearly inferior to Q3. Unreal 2003 was a steaming pile of shit and then they sold Unreal 2004 as a pay-for-patch in disguise of an actual game, trying to fix some of the flaws of 2003 while introducing a bunch of new broken shit.

I download the PC version of Gears of War to see what the fuss was about, pretty meh game, terrible PC port with completely broken multiplayer and wrapped up in Games for Windows bile.

Yeah because that's exactly where it comes from. The game opens with the flythrough sequence around the Nali castle that is featured in the game itself as well. I think the menu is superimposed over that. But that's when this music is playing.

Ah don't be so harsh on Epic. IMO they made some quality games.
One Must Fall 2097 was a pretty decent fighter for it's time.
The original Jazz Jackrabbit was simply awesome.

The original Unreal was ground-breaking. Seriously. Quake 2 may have set the standard, but as a single player game, Unreal went way above and beyond what Quake 2 offered. It was a truly stunning experience back then.

As for the Unreal Tournament series, yes, UT99 was child's play compared to Quake 3, but far more popular nonetheless. UT99 was great for having some recreational games at LAN parties but admittedly, the Q3 games were always far more intense and far more competitive. UT2003 was a failure and shouldn't have been released. UT2004 was what UT2003 should have been.

And don't write off Gears of War so easily. It's a very well made game. The only unfortunate thing is that we've had three Gears of Wars games in 6 years time, with each game offering little new over the previous installment, so drag starts to set in. I haven't played the PC version of Gears 1 though, played all of it on XBox 360 and that has been some good fun. Especially the Horde mode of Gears of War 2 is something that I've sunk a lot of time in. Possibly my most played multiplayer mode in any game since Quake 3.
