you're misreading him- he's saying that the dirt road is usually translated as shitty, but that Oblivion is countering that by being responsible and mature about it and thust trying to smooth it out a bit.

It's not a horrible experience for everyone. For example, within 3 years me and the wife will have the house to ourselves and still be young enough to enjoy it. The ones I feel sorry for are the ones that are going on 60 and just getting the kids out of school.
