omg the wheels on cars don't go round when they run out of petrol, even if you push them, and then you have to buy a new engine at the price of a new car because the tank is empty

omg

I don't know which article to believe , but I know for a fact that Tesla Cars have had a ruff road all the way through...which is to be expected since their are splashing around in new waters.

especially since the first one mentions that tesla acknowledge that bricking is a real issue, while the second one says that can't happen

What I'm understanding is that if you take your Tesla charge so low that you can no longer drive the car, you either have to bring a charge to it, or put the car up on a trailer. There is no way to disengage the drive train from the engine and it is a rear wheel drive vehicle. This would be the same thing if you car was left in gear or left in park and the doors were locked. You simply can't tow a car that has been left in gear unless it is a front wheel drive.

My guess would be that there are five rich morons out there who let someone tow the car anyway. It is unfortunate that you can't just bring a gas can around, but that is the nature of the beast.

k so here is a lengthier write up (of the little excerpt in the slashdot article)
http://www.itworld.com/it-managementstr ... are-tesla/

and after reading that, I'm pretty much convinced that Sam Jaffe is a retard and the slashdot article poster is a tree hugging troll.

His entire argument breaks down at this precise moment:
"The battery management system of the Tesla Roadster keeps the battery from being discharged to a damagingly low state of charge under normal driving conditions"

so, yeah... if you don't drive on empty, and if you don't leave it unplugged for a few days (depending on where the charge currently is) or if you don't have an insufficient power source then you have nothing to worry about :disgust:

But still, just a technical hurdle, and I commend the company and their capable clients for applying important technologies. Even if electrics prove inadequate, this learning curve will pave the way to better solutions.

On the Tesla topic, throwing in some Top Gear....
North American electric-car maker Tesla has once again left a London High Court battle with Top Gear and Jeremy Clarkson with its power cord between its legs.
click
Tesla tried to sue Top Gear because although the footage showed the vehicle being pushed, it had power during the filming.
Note pushed and power :smirk:

I played with the Nissan Leaf in Forza 4 cause I broke my hand. It's amusing to drive a vehicle and the only sound is the tires on the pavement and the wind flying by, even if only virtually.

I used a taxi the other day, first in years and it was one of those PRIUS cars.

It was so quiet on approach :paranoid: then I realized it was a hybrid :smirk:

If you believe the first one you're as much of a retard as the author. Hopefully you believe the second one, since you posted a link to the source of the snippet.

In electronics, "bricking" means to render a device so that it can no longer be used for its intended reason. Over one Tesla Roadster owner has said recently that the vehicle can grow to be a "brick" if simply left unplugged. Tesla, however, states the owners are at fault, not the automaker. Tesla says "bricked" Roadsters a maintenance issue. Tesla responded to the claims, however, acquainting the problem to neglecting an oil change in a vehicle with an internal combustion engine. Its like all automobiles require some level of owner care.
