What's the best website for keeping track of album releases from your personal favourite artists?

Facebook or twitter, if they have them. Much better than browsing shite like pitchfork or whatever.

Sign up to their mailing lists too.

I already went the Facebook route, but all that does is fill up my "other" inbox with spam about concerts and promotions that I don't give a shit about.

Does Last.FM send album release notifications?

I think you can disable messages directly. Just stop that particular person from sending event invites and you're sorted. I only want info in my news feed and as soon as an album is announced, they tend to spam it a bit, so it's hard to miss it.

Oh and last.fm doesn't send anything AFAIK. An artist/label has to register there and claim the artist page before they can even upload music to it anyway. Even once they've done that, they can't send anything to the listeners directly. All they can do is upload music, provide links for where to purchase it and post a message in the shoutbox. That's it.

I use this for metal: http://www.metalstorm.net/events/new_re ... upcoming=1
And youtube/facebook/beatport for EDM.

I use the official websites of bands I like, Facebook and then play.com/amazon.co.uk in the "coming soon" section

^^That might work for your dishwashing weekly subscriptions but not 200 or so artists.

Yep. You can even sync it in with last.fm so you don't have to manually input data.

I've long considered making a website that spanned all media/entertainment mediums to track/subscribe to release dates with personal calendar views and recommendations and stuff. But I'm lazy...

:ducky: Thank you
I still buy CDs :paranoid: It's a collector's habit of mine. I rip them to my computer, burn them, put the original in a CD booklet with the album booklet next to them, put the burned CDs in the CD case (with the original back/spine for filing & knowing what I'm grabbing when I'm in a rush out the door to my car) and keep them in a book case in alphabetical order. I listen to them in the car and only listen to the burned copies so as not to scratch the originals
I have a few of the giant CD booklets filled like this and the cd cases take up two good size book cases. I know it's kinda weird, dying medium and all that, and I admit it's pretty nerdy, but I like it. Thanks for the link Captain Mazda.

BTW, when you put the album artwork on the outside spaces of the cd booklet and the CDs on the inside, you can flip through the CD booklet's album artwork without actually turning the pages (the pages bend around the CDs since they're heavier)...kinda neat if you're into collecting and want to flip through it quickly.

I've always bought AKG. I've had the K 240 Studio for what seems like forever, they've been durable and versatile. I like headphones with long cords and the sound on these are great. I had a really good headphone amp too, but I lost it somewhere in a move and forgot what brand it was...I've been able to get by without the amp though.
