Seeing as the '>' means 'bigger/larger than', you're right.

Well if you checked the news and the pictures, you'll notice the Airbus is larger than a Boeing 747. It's not exactly rocketscience.
think ns thought that zimbo was comparing the companies, which is fair enough considering that zimbo wrote 'airbus > boeing' and not 'a380 > 7e7' (pretty sure it'd be that and not the 747 that it'll be up against).

that said, boeing are always whining about airbus getting subsidised. bit of a pot and kettle thing going on there considering how far up the us government's arse boeing are.

edit: self-owned by leaving the window for 5 mins :(

And why don't we try comparing apples to apples. The 747 has only been around since the late 60s, after all. Compare it to something that was developed RECENTLY perhaps? Like the 777 or 787 maybe?
I'm not shitting on Airbus here, I think they make some nice planes, I'd just like to see some fact-based debate as opposed to "OMFG! BO31NG G0T OWN3D! A1RBU5 R0XX0RZ!"
And no one has yet answered a critical question in this mega-jet issue. Sure, the massive capacity is great, but how the fuck are you going to smoothly debark 800 people into a terminal that's designed to handle 450?

Interesting. I knew that the US government was bailing out the airlines left and right, but didn't know they were helping out manufacturers to that extent. $3 billion in tax breaks is nothing to sneeze at.

Christ, I read this thread right before I went to bed last night. And what do I dream about? Myself flying on a huge jumbo jet and the fear I'm going to 'fucking' die. Thanks q3w for the dreams you help give to the children.
