Well, they said that the coop missions were telling stories that are mentioned in the game, so I expect there is
some back story to these missions. And the comparison to Horde seems a bit odd. They're clearly fighting their way through a path from point A to reach point B. Horde is basically just an arena game type.

I assumed this was showing off split-screen coop as well, but now that I think about it, it probably doesn't. You see, they're showing the PC version, and I doubt there will be split-screen coop on the PC version (well, maybe there is, if they let you plug in XBox 360 controllers and play with that), but I think the split-screen effect here is just a video editing trick, to show that yes, they're actually in the same world at the same time. With widescreen monitors and TV's of these days, I'd also expect they'd have a vertical screen split instead of horizontal. At least, that's what Portal does and it seems to make a lot more sense.
