Re: Picture thread
You get on them by climbing up into an elevated hut and the elephant comes and stands beside it so you can get on. They're weird things to ride on. Slow and lumbering and different sections of their back go up and down as they take their steps. You sit on a little chair that is fastened to their back and your Thai guide sits on the elephants head and keeps him going. In this photo though our guide had got off to let me sit on the elephants head so we could take some pics. If you look close enough you can see where I completely owned my bitch by leaving her in the chair behind and almost completely blocking her out of the photo.mrd wrote:Aye... that's pretty sweet. How are they to ride? How the hell do you get on them, ladder?

Re: Picture thread
My elephant ride wasn't so joyful... the beast was apparently hungry and started ripping whole bushes and half of a tree out of the forest floor and stuffing it in his mouth as we proceeded with the walking. Much to the dismay of the guide, who after a while started to smack the elephant on the head with his cane to instill discipline. There's something really fucking disturbing about feeling a giant animal shudder in pain and fear.
Very mixed feelings were had :/

also, you dont get to ride shit. you weigh a fraction of what the elephant weighs, he barely responds to you. bro just goes where he wants to go and he dont care if you're on him or not.
as I was able to find out the hard way as the elephant decided to go for a bath in quite a swollen river

Can someone point out which one is the elephant in this pic? I see three figures, two of which have trunks coming out of their faces.MKJ wrote:via a lifeguardpost-esque construction.

MKJ were you guys just put on an elephant with no chair, by yourselves and just left for the elephant to roam of its own free will?

MY SIDES!
no there was still a guide around, and two or three elephants with other pros on their backs.
the guide was mostly there to make sure the elephant wouldnt do anything dangerous like going under low hanging branches and such.
apparently, rolling around in a river with people on your back isnt too risky

it's actually ART. When you picked up the phone it just kept ringing through the earpiece. I'd say my facial expression is an accurate representation of my general opinion to the exhibit.
