E3 2011
Re: E3 2011
its a pain having to download my profile on my bros xbox before we can play (it takes a while). either that or not get any achievements or what have yous.
but yea, rather trivial but nice they finally decided to make use of their own cloud.

Pretty underwhelming E3 IMO. It's the first one that has made me feel like an old man. This whole Wii U thing doesn't appeal to me at all. I feel like we're about to have a bunch of next gen Sega CDs released.

Can't wait to play the new Mario and Zelda games on it

Re: E3 2011
one main thing that amazes me about this years games is how open the level design is... and not just boring flat open but deep/ rich environments. for example prey 2 and bioshock Un., as well as the new Assassins Creed. They all have amazing atmosphere, where there usually is a tightly structured game area which is very polygon conscious layout, now they have it so brilliantly open, and you can see more of the environment / the game world, and not just some gay backdrop concoction. And yes, games have been doing that for years now, but this stuff looks like a new level of "open" unlike anything else I've seen before.

More Wii U noise:
Only support 1 Wii controller
Does NOT play gamecube games

Re: E3 2011
why the hell would you want to play gamecube games on there anyways, when you can emulate them (and Wii) at 1080p with full anti aliasing etc? especially when you can connect both consoles controller to your computer in this day and age? (gamecube via adaptoid, wiimote via bluetooth)
here's windwaker @ 1080p, widescreen hack enabled

me too, gaming is going to die soon imo, mabye not die off completely, but it'll never be the sameJackal wrote:Pretty underwhelming E3 IMO. It's the first one that has made me feel like an old man.

Re: E3 2011
I think that's a bit of a silly statement (re: it dieing down). In fact, I think we've reached a bit of plateau in terms of gaming's popularity. It's now so mainstream that I think it's an undeniable fixture in the entertainment world. Having plateaued I find that devs are reaching for the new, best innovation but we're still at a point where we're just kind of flailing around in the dark.
Granted, my "old man" statement stems from me admittedly not getting "it". So I could be completely wrong. I just feel that we're at a point where we should get back to basics (compelling narrative and plot, interesting game mechanics, etc.) and stay away from "revolutionizing the industry".

Don't fret. The recent success of a lot of indie studios is a sign of better times.
