making textures

Post by j3st3r »

Can anyone possibly point me to a tutorial, if there is one, on making textures form the material found on sites like cg textures?

What exactly do you mean? Do you want to make images tileable? Or make UV maps for models? Create shaders? "Making" textures is very vague.

Here's a quick tutorial that shows how to make a basic image seamless.
I'll have to write another one that will explain it in details.

I wrote this today: http://cityy.explicits.de/?page=tex_creation

Hope it helps a little bit.. it's my first tutorial ever - I'd appreciate some feedback.

Small comment, not on the content but the page format. I tried to read the tutorial on my iPhone on the MRT to work this morning. The sun through the window made the black text very hard to read on that grey background.

Is anyone still using Picture Publisher nowadays? That Micrografx prog has had more features than any expensive elite photo shop crap back in the days. :smirk:
If there are enough ppl it might be handy to spit out a basic tut for that, too.
