Do you have a Quake Live Pro/Premium account?

Post by spirit_ »

Hi,

I'd like to know how many of us mappers pay for their Quake Live accounts. If you play Q3A or QL online, please vote (if you don't play at all it doesn't really make sense to answer I guess). :)

@Mods: Please don't move this to GD or elsewhere, I'm asking it in LEM on purpose. Thanks!

I don't pay, simply because of my age and because I don't have the money. However, I'd still like to...
On a side note: a subscription cant be expired yet - they only have annual billying and it hasn't been a year since the launch.

I wouldn't mind paying if I had enough people to play with on a private server. They would have to really suck as badly as I do though.

This.

Also, I am not satisfied with the map pool yet.

Oh, and most of the US servers are empty around the times I would like to play. And now I can't play in servers that are lower skill than my skill, so I basically can't play even if I want to.

I subscribed to pro about a month ago. There's alot to not like about QL but I remain optimistic about the future. I just wish they'd sort out the major issues with the game once and for all.

I haven't. Don't play enough to warrant a pro subscription.

No, Quake Live is not my cup of tea. I only play Q3A classic and even more I love mapping. The only way how I can express myself. My dark thoughts and mind......

Yes. Mostly because of the new maps being offered, sure there`s a lot of "recycled" maps but at the same time there`s some new ones that just scream awesome, like Black Cathedral, Leviathan, Tornado, etc.

Another reason? Well, I`m going to ask SyncError about getting my map on Quake Live, and of course it would suck badly if I couldn`t even play my own map online. (tbh they should just give special permissions to standard players who have had maps submitted, and they could /callvote those or w/e even though the others can`t, especially if the player in question was willing to offer his maps at no charge)

There`s still a lot I want to see, like MuffinMan said. Namely the long-overdue TA gametypes, some particular maps, and better server latency / packet management so I can play overseas without getting owned by everyone else on the server.

For me it's exactly the same as for Eraser: I don't play enough to warrant a pro subscription.

If it was like $10 once I'd buy the game. It's Quake 3, it's not really fresh and I already paid for it years ago but ...
  • there is nothing better out there
  • the match making system is really worth it imo. I'm not much of a player and I can't just play Q3 on random servers on the internet -- the people who play there seem to do nothing else. They totally own me, it's absolutely senseless. The match making system of QL allows me to play people of more or less my skill. I can even play duel on the internet, I've never done that before! :)
