Fallout: New Vegas
Re: Fallout: New Vegas
being that I dont usually replay games I've decided to get the most out of it the first time around. I have dumped just shy of 100 hours into it and I've discovered about 90% of the sites! granted it's the only video game I'm playing atm but hours upon hours of wondering in the wastelands is simply absurd!
Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I'd like to see a 'making of' movie for a game like this - getting all the various aspects to fall together, all the conditional stuff based on what events have happened and what order you do stuff in - that they can make all that work just blows me away.
Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Why the fuck did they put the deathclaw quest in Sloan? I'm a million miles from being able to kill those fucks.
I love quake!

interesting stuff.
Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I'm 100/100 on weapons and the adult fuckers are still hard to deal with. and you can forget about trying to take on two at the same time, unless you can use the landscape to your advantage. But they make for the most challenging fights, inlcuding diff. variety of weapons / chems/ etc. I usually walk away from an encounter broke and addictedfeedback wrote:Why the fuck did they put the deathclaw quest in Sloan? Minor spoiler > ................................. there is this "Legendary Deathclaw" in a nearby cave and the thing is a beast of a beast. It took a combination of stealthboys, chems, carefully placed mines, high powered weapons and turbo to deal with the fucker. I'm not entirely sure but I'm pretty sure I was as stacked on armor and damage resistants as possible and one well placed hit from this fucker was all it took.
Re: Fallout: New Vegas
The problem is that on hardcore if your companion dies, that's it, game over better reload.
I love quake!
Re: Fallout: New Vegas
oh yeah btw, when I'm about to do some serious fighting I tell my companion to wait somewhere safe...they are useful for weak enemies so you can conserve ammo ,or being your mule, but other than that they are worthless.
Re: Fallout: New Vegas
also, am i the only one hoarding pre-war books thinking they will be valuable to someone? the funny thing is when I picked up my first book I chuckled thinking that it was probably going to end up as a cruel joke, and sure enough it seems that way

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Anyone else had problems with companions disappearing? Not like blinking out and going away - but running off to who knows where? I've had to reload a few saves because the dog or my sniper friend were gone.

Looks like the upcoming patch will fix those issues:tnf wrote:Anyone else had problems with companions disappearing? Not like blinking out and going away - but running off to who knows where? I've had to reload a few saves because the dog or my sniper friend were gone.
This is from Bethblog.* Companions now show up as waypoints on the map
* Companions will always fast travel with you, unless told to wait or sent away

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
What I do love about New Vegas is how there are more options in missions and they aren't either completely evil or angelic.
The bugs and glitches haven't hit me too hard, but its enough to be an annoyance.
I think I prefer Fallout 3 for style differences. Both have good, quirky humorous bits to them, but I think Fallout 3 has a lot more history in it, and I'm a history buff.
:EDIT: I feel the various choices that aren't morally right or wrong will allow greater replay value, so thats a big plus.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Well I finished this. 70 hours worth of gameplay. And I cut it short at level 25 cause I really wanted to start over and build an evil character.
The game was a bit confusing for me. I really tried to be a good guy, but in the end I just ended up fucking over both the Legion and NCR. Not sure how that happened.
Anyways, thus next go round I really want to be bad. I seem to have way more fun with games like this when I just take what I want and kill anyone who gets in my way. Is that wrong?

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Maybe its just me, or my playstyle, but I don't get how anybody could have finished it without being level 30 early on. I had t oeven install a third party higher level mod because I got to level 30 like 20 hours in...
Re: Fallout: New Vegas
You probably do more big quests early on, where as I do a lot of exploring and picking around.
Plus you're probably just a much better gamer than me, o'dium...

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I explore, and if I'm honest I leave the main story line until the very end. Then again I do play on Very Hard and you level faster there.
Re: Fallout: New Vegas
I played Hardcore mode.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas
Hardcore is a change to the gameplay, thats all. Doesn't change the ammount of XP you gain. Very Hard however, does.
But yeah, I played hardcore too.

My biggest annoyance with the game is that anytime you go to a casino or anyplace that strips you of your weapons then when you get them back all the hotkeys (for Xbox 360 at least) are gone and you have to redo them all.
