The opener was pretty good, setting the season up to be as intense as always. It was a little hard to watch, just thinkin about if you was ever in Dexter's position and had to tell some kids their mom was dead. Aster is being a little bitch. But it looks like we'll see Dexter getting back to his old ways and the therapy sessions should be good for some laughs.

Re: Dexter Season 5
Episode was utter shite, boring, and completely non-Dexter.
It'll take a lot to make something out of this season I think. 4 picked up where 3 had dropped off but they've proper fucked the series it seems, to me.

Re: Dexter Season 5
I was going to start this earlier, but didn't want to do it just to slag off the first episode. I agree with EtUL that it was a pretty weak opener. Season 4 was pretty much carried by John Lithgow and the current season doesn't look great, of course it could pick up over the next few episodes. Evidently, the last of the original producers and the head writer has left recently.
Astor getting mad at Dexter came completely out of nowhere

Well, her mom just died and she's like 12.

and I'm afraid this season will have lots more bad child acting. :/

Debra is such an annoying cunt, in fact every woman on that show is a cunt in some way or form.
TBH I expected the opener to be weak, it was inevitably going to be 50 minutes of Dexter coping with fake emotions and everyone walking around with a frown on their face. Next episode will probably make or break the season.

Re: Dexter Season 5
Honestly I don't think it was all that weak. I mean, the guy's wife was just murdered. They had to make the transition somehow and it was going to be difficult any direction they went. I think I'll wait a few more episodes before casting prejudgement...

						Re: Dexter Season 5
The transition could have been left off camera for the most part.

It was a major transition in the story arc of him trying to achieve something he never can: normalcy. I'd say its completely in line with the rest of the plot arc and the psychology thats driven the character since the first episode. All in all it was a pretty good start IMO.

I aggree with torm. I liked the episode and how it treated dexter's character. I just hate shitty kid actors (I hope cody and astor end up with their grand parents just to get them off camera... they've always been terrible... shit they were even terrible in the books).
Making quinn dokes ver 1.5 is also pretty weak. If they can't really go anywhere with the show anymore they should just break out the goofball cult finale from the last book and call it a day.
Show ha 2 seasons lef max.

I agree. an obligatory ep and now thats all that out of the way, we can see how he fits this situation into his life.Tormentius wrote:It was a major transition in the story arc of him trying to achieve something he never can: normalcy. the only thing i felt was out of place was that sudden debra/quinn thing. fuck off.
Re: Dexter Season 5
Deb gets way more play than she should simply because she rides the Michael C. Hall cock.
Shit... she was supposed to be a victim of the ice truck killer.

Re: Dexter Season 5
I don't mind the kids and their acting is pretty good. They're kids. They're a part of the normal life that Dexter doesn't really understand. He didn't know how to tell them about their mother's death so he just blurts out that a man killed her, so Astor's reaction seems pretty natural. She has reason to blame him for not protecting Rita. I find Debra much more annoying than the kids, the kids have some purpose in Dexter's cover and psychology.
The episode is a small break from the normal pace of the episodes, but it does fit into the broad storyline. There was a question of whether Dexter really loved Rita or if it was all just a cover, and now we know. Rita's death is too big of a plot twist to simply do a "10-months later" kind of thing and just go back to normal serial killer episodes. I think the episode is a nice transition and sets the plot for the rest of the season.
I bet they're going to pin Rita's death on the neighbour, divorced man with a crush on the victim and a reason to hate the victim's husband. Hmmm...

Re: Dexter Season 5
Rita became a self-centred, controlling bitch the instant Dexter laid the pipe to her....and a hypocrite. Before that she'd ask Dexter to do things and aterwards she began giving commands. When we were first introduced to her, I didn't think it was in her character (non-domineering) so I was sorta disappointed that it turned out she was like every other broad in the world when she got into a "relationship".
Talk about a firm grip on the man's testicles.

Re: Dexter Season 5
I thought the episode was ok. It closed the story arcs of last season and left it wide open - in terms of story possibilities - for this season.

I'll be glad when he kills Quin. Don't like him.

						Re: Dexter Season 5
Yep, it was an episode that needed to be made, just to give a bit of closure for the last (and epic) trinity arc. Now we get to see the fallout and Dexters inevitable downfall. I just hope it isn't that cunt Quinn who finally catches him... far more interesting if it is Deb.

Re: Dexter Season 5
Oh yeah....Deb...the sociopathic sister that fucks anyone within six feet when she gets upset. The instant she and Quinn got close (while she was crying) I rolled my eyes and said,"Here we go again."
I have no doubt that Deb would fuck her father if he was still alive.
What a dumb character. Easily the worst on the show. I'm not knocking the actress, just the character she plays. She reminds me of an old co-worker that told me the longest "relationship" she's ever had was 9 days.

Plus, Quin fucked his sister. Men have died for smaller transgressions.bitWISE wrote:I'll be glad when he kills Quin. Don't like him.
