Is there some download link to Unreal textures converted for Quake 3?

You shouldn't use them.

It's not common to use textures from other games in the q3a community. It violates the EULA of commercial games to use the textures for other games and people here take that seriously. You can of course use textures of free games that allow this.

(I've seen that you are registered at certain Quake 1 websites and I know that nobody in the Q1 community cares but here it's different. You should accept that.)

And speaker has done rebuilds of some Unreal maps and I think he created textures for them. You may want to have a look at those maps/textures. I think his website is down but his maps are at LvL.

Well, I don't really want to post another thread. So I'll just ask this here, are there added textures in TA? Because when I look in the pk3 files there's only standard Quake 3 textures.

Great! This topic is here in very good time :) And howit is with textures and sounds from other ID soft games? For example when I use sound from Doom 3?

If there are then why can't I find them? All I find are some normal Quake 3 textures in TGA format.

Dunno, they should be in <Quake3>/missionpack/pak0.pk3 I guess.

No, you can't redistribute game content from any commercial game even if it's for a mod based on a platform by the same software developers. You shouldn't be redistributing ANY id Software assets in any of your PK3's.

I looked in all the pk3 files in the missionpack folder.

Then you probably don't have Team Arena installed, eh? :rolleyes:

The missionpack folder can be created if you connect to a server running TA, even if you don't have the game. Quake 3 assumes it's a mod of some sort that you can download, and thus creates a folder for its content. However, since TA is a commercial deal, I'm pretty sure the server sends back a "GTFO" code, and boots you from the server. The missionpack folder will remain, though.

"missionpack" is also created by GtkRadiant during installation.

BTW, you also shouldn't be including any TA assets in your PK3s since it violates the EULA.

Common sense, they're distinct commercial offerings. That one runs on the other has nothing to do with it.

Because when you bought the game and installed it, and clicked "ACCEPT THESE TERMS" without actually reading them, part of what you didn't read states that you can't take content from that game and distribute it under another platform, even if it's the same damn engine running essentially the same game by the same company. The idea goes like this: if you include that texture in a Quake 3 map and someone downloads it, they have essentially gained access to that artwork without paying for it. Seems silly but that's the way shit goes, sir.

If I didn't buy TA, but downloaded your map full of TA assets, I would be pirating (and you would be illegally distributing) artwork created by id Software in which I did not pay for. That's why it's illegal.

^me too, but the End License user agreement covers TA weather it was brought singular or in an expansion pack eg Q3Gold

TA = Quake 3 with a couple new maps and weapons. It's not that different, so it's not another game. If it was it wouldn't be ran through Quake 3.

It doesn't really matter if you have a texture from TA in your map. You guys are probably misreading the content from EULA anyway.

Wow, you are an asshole. You can't even read the EULA right. I'm not coming up with dumb arguments, you guys are just a pain. It never said in the EULA "YOU CANNOT PUT TEXTURES FROM TA INTO YOUR MAP FILE!".
