SoA is about the Sons of Anarchy motorcyle club, based in the mythical small Califronia town of Charming. Ron Perlman is the president and Charlie Hunnam plays Jax, the VP of the club. It was founded by Jax's dad (dead), Ron Perlman's character Clay, and a few others. They runs guns bought from the IRA and the Russians (mostly the IRA) to gangs in Cali. The sheriff of Charming is in cahoots with the club, but the deputy sheriff isn't. The club agrees to keep all their dealings out of Charming, and they act as protectors of the town, keeping out drug dealers, etc. The problem is that they also keep the town from developing.
It's well-cast and brilliantly written, I recommend watching it from the first season, you'll miss too much otherwise. Given this most recent season of Rescue Me's dodgy writing, I think that SoA has eclipsed it in terms of pure quality. It's a fucking GREAT show.

Rescue Me's dodgy writing, I think that SoA has eclipsed it in terms of pure quality. It's a fucking GREAT show.

Yea I feel like Rescue Me is past it's prime. Honestly last season would have been an amazing note to end on.

The writing picked up a LOT after a few episodes, and the climax of the Damian story arc was excellent. However, the season finale sucked BALLS. I'm thinking that the final season is going to be more than a bit of a letdown. There's no way that Tommy, Janet, and the kids are going to ride off into the sunset on a fire truck. I think Tommy's going to die.

Rescue Me ran its course at the end of season 3. It's all downhill off a mountain of crap from there.
I look at imdb, and see Denis Leary hasn't done much except RM, and some Ice Age voiceover shit.

Meanwhile I'm following Mad Men, True Blood, Entourage and Hung, but they all seem like castrated versions of their earlier selves. Don't know what's up with that.
