Another summer here, any big projects in your future?

Post by tnf »

My basement is coming along, very, very slowly but I did get my backyard redone. Just finishing laying 1500 square feet of sod (not a huge yard, but doing that alone wasn't fun.)
The biggest pain the ass was probably getting things leveled and removing some of the grade to the yard that was there before I ripped it all apart. Considered hydro-seeding, but decided against it as we wanted a yard as soon as possible. Next step - putting the paver stones in along the edge of the grass.

What's the summer project agenda at your place?

Got a few projects. Completely redo the plumbing, put down some gravel in the backyard parking area. Move some sidewalks around. Possibly add another bathroom in the back of the house. Level the house foundation. It's going to be a busy summer.

I just had to reply here tnf :D

My project was completed about 3 months ago. I renovated my kitchen in my apartment and am so pleased with the result for so little dollars.

Here you go Image

See I don't have a block of dirt and my apartment is larger that my previous suburban house, and I am still loving every minute even 8 years  later.

I just love apartment living

So I suppose in answer here, my current project is a new car (see my www in footer). See I think I have to work for another 3 to 5 years before a comfortable retirement spent traveling the globe many times and another car was needed to get me back and forth

All because the GFC prevented early retirement, additionally that heart attack although not slowing me down makes me appreciate every moment from now forward  :D

.... Thinking too, I got to buy me some Lego

Sorry the wall oven/microwave are out of pic to the right and we usually keep pots/pans/crockery & cutlery out of sight
...and yes the dark rectangle is the cooking surface (stove top).

As below it isn't and wasn't supposed to be a show kitchen at all. We <3 it.

Funny, when we first saw the apartment (it was then two times the value (buy/sell costs) our suburban house, but the time was right (thankfully) and as soon as we saw even that old kitchen we couldn't wait to part with money and take ownership.

The (old) kitchen simply had us sold.

That's it  I am near anal when it comes to clean :olo:

Here are two links to old photos 1 and 2 date - Dec '06

Wasn't a huge renovation, kept cupboard carcasses and floor (nothing wrong with them, replaced bench tops and splash back with caesar stone, replaced plumbing and appliances. We're very happy with the outcome

Thanks both. Yes it's our first.
We get the keys to our new house July 19 so we expect to move over the first week of August. The baby's due august 31 so it's a bit of a tight schedule we're on...

Packing, getting married, moving to new apartment right after return from honeymoon. So friggin' happy to be moving out of this first floor, two bedroom sardine can to a third floor, three bedroom apartment. *cue Jeffersons theme song*

Next fall is when the projects commence for me. My ex-cow will be out of my house, hallelujah! NO MORE ALIMONY! NO MORE ALIMONY! SAYOUNARA YOU FAT LYING BITCH! Uh, anyways, now that that's out of my system...I'll have god knows how much damage to fix, I'm sure she's painted the interior to look like a fucking asylum, and rightly so. There will be much to do, I have no idea how much her and her pet walrus have fucked the place up, the idiots.
