do you have to have XP pro to do something like that? i have pro but im not too sure what the differences are between that and home. i think it has something to do with networking right?

For the most part. Home should still offer the remote desktop though.

Im not sure if 2k Pro offers Terminal Server or not...try looking in your windows components under add/remove programs. I know Server does.

If it does you can install the Terminal Server on the machine at home and then there is an included program that makes a client install disk. I've never tried it over the net but I don't see why it wouldnt work.

no, Home only offers Remote Assistance. you need XP Pro for Remote Desktop.

Real VNC or Tight VNC

i use Tight VNC on my home network. seems a bit snappier than Real VNC.

The Tight VNC is what I found awhile back, but ad-aware and MS's prog. kept killing it. :lol: Guess it's safe as, for what that word is worth I guess.

Well TightVNC is an open-source program; so you can download the source-code and see what it's doing. The reason those programs are saying its spyware is because it could, if you don't password the server, be used like a trojan on your PC; but it is perfectly safe.

I use TightVNC to connet to this from online; works great.

With Tight VNC, is there a way to make the screen I'm connecting to smaller. I'm getting sick of scrolling down to click my start menu.

I've tried the scale by but all the good that does it make it larger.

edit: hmm, what If I set up a server at my house. Then I went to work and also setup one of these VNC server. From my work connected to my house, and then from my house I connected back to my computer. Could I control the computer I'm setting at through the computer at my house?
