Yes, I did download and although trance isn't my kind of thing I did give it a go. Very surprised.
Thanks for a very catchy rhythms. A nice mix
Especially like the bits around 2:20 to 2:40, 18:00, 28, 30 & 33 minutes
I'd say well done.

thanks whiskey! what sort of music do u like? house/minimal by any chance?
Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
memph, the goal of this mix was afterhours music, ie tripping balls on mdma music lol! btw the last track is spaceman by the killers, sander van doorn remix part 2.
Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
btw with respect to dj'ing vs producing, i think being able to do either one is equally important. trance mixed in a good set sounds A LOT better than on its own. i wanna make my own tracks too, but i need at the very least a midi keyboard and preferably some hardware synths or at least something with knobs so that i can control the app's eq on the fly. im not even talking about monitors and an external soundcard... this mix was just an ich i've had for a while now, and i'm finally making something that contains all my fave songs, not some dj's set that contains 3-4 out of 30.
Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
You don't need all that to get started though. Just download a DAW trial and start playing around. If you fall in love you'll have more motivation to buy all the fancy shit
If you're looking for a keyboard on the cheap that does everything check out this one. It only cost me $96 from a local Guitar Center.

Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
nice, thanks for the suggestion bitwise! i already have a good DAW, but i still cant afford to buy any equipment right now the company where i work is about to close :/ hopefully i'll be able to get some nice stuff in the summer tho

Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
modern trance is without question the absolute worst electronic music. the whole generic "build up/break down/repeat" formula honestly makes me want to shoot off my ears.
it's such a far cry from the original late 80s/early 90s trance, which was actually pretty good.
This is proper trance produced in 1989 co-produced by Mundo Muzique, who made some amazing techno/proto-rave records with Joey Beltram around the same time. It's 100000% better than the "epic" trance crap you hear today.

Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
in fact, i produced this the other day, which is thankfully a million miles away from modern trance.

I do like that briskbrisk wrote:...... This is proper trance produced in 1989 .........

This ? and that ? are all OK by me but I figure since I love the likes of Gary Numan that I am probably more of a techo/techno trance follower. DunnoToxicBug wrote:thanks whiskey! what sort of music do u like? house/minimal by any chance?

Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
alright guys i think that we can all agree that this song is awesome

Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
Trance is such a horrible, gay style of music.
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.
Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
as always, nothing but positive thoughts from u lawl

Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
Well I'm sorry but it is.
House, Dub, Trip-Hop - 3 styles that I totally love. Trance though really is fucking gay. I just hate it.

doh. missed the link
regardless of the style of music, good DJing/Mixing takes a lot of practice. My last live set was back in 2005 and i was pretty decent at the time. for some reason though i've had a lot of peeps request a new set from me lately so i jumped back on for shits and giggles and my beat matching was shit. not to mention all my vinyl is really old now and a lot of the tracks sound insanely dated.
if you get your technical issues situated i'd love to hear the set.
brisk, that track was raw and awesome.

oh ok by gay u meant bad... lol! cause house is actually the gay (as in homosexual) afterhours choice of music. well i dunno, i agree with u that most vocal and uplifting trance suck, but i think that darker, more serious trance is really good. it gets closer to house and techno (tech-trance) in some cases.LawL wrote:Well I'm sorry but it is.

for example, i don't like most of the songs that play on armin van buuren's A State of Trance, but i really like what sander van doorn puts on Identity. of course, i like this music mostly because i go to raves and i have been conditioned to like it as a result of experiencing very strong positive emotions on mdma. trance is a massive genre, but ppl who don't really know it well associate it with vocal cheese and think it's gay.

thanks, i'll post it once it's redoneGrandpa Stu wrote:doh. missed the link

check out askillz
Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
The thing is, the more "serious" trance tries to sound, the more stupid it becomes. Classic trance knew its strengths: work a 303 rhythm and tweak that fucker over 10 minutes. These days, the music is just unlistenable for me.
The same thing happens to all electronic music once it reaches the masses. It gets diluted to the point where it has no semblence to what it was and all the original producers get pissed off and make something new or just retire full stop.
Same thing happened with Jungle. As soon as it hit the coffee shops and the volkswagon commercials, it was game over. Modern crap like Pendulum and Chase & Status is just embaressing. I'll stick with my lRemarc, Metalheads, Skanna records thanks.
Dubstep is popular now, but compare early Mala/DMZ tracks with shite like Caspa/Rusko and you see it's heading exactly the same way.
I think the only thing we can do is listen to John Cages 4'33 on repeat.

Re: for those who like trance music, i made my first trance mix!
brisk, it's normal for music to evolve. although it's still called trance, it's now a completely different music style compared to what it was 20 years ago. everyone has different tastes. just because a certain music style doesn't match your tastes doesn't mean that it sucks. i don't like heavy metal but i don't go into a thread about a heavy metal band and tell them that the band sucks because they play heavy metal.
anyway, personally i think that trance is getting better and better every year and i'm eager to see which direction this music style will take in the future

I liked all of those before they were popular and now I don't like them because they are popular.
