Last month, a man and his pregnant wife were murdered outside a primary school in El Porvenir, according to residents; the man was shot but the killers are said to have cut open the woman and taken her baby, leaving her to die. In another account, gunmen are said to have killed a beggar in a wheelchair.
That is messed up. Sad too that we don't offer asylum. It's like genocide but they're targeting everyone.
Mexico is a fucking wasteland and so corrupt even the cops are part of the problem. A former co-worker of mine and his wife were robbed at gun-point by a Mexican "police officer" when they asked him for directions.
Don't just avoid Mexico...bomb it into the ground.
Are the tourist areas becoming more dangerous as well? I'm always surprised at parents who let their blone haired, blue eyed 17 year old daughters head down to Mexico on spring break with only friends as traveling companions - I've had groups of students go down there completely unsupervised, 5 teenage female girls traveling from the states into Mexico on their own.
I'd say almost everyone who has been victimized while traveling in Mexico on vacation probably thought they could avoid crime by being 'careful' and 'aware of their surroundings.'
