I installed Quake 2 from the CD, pre patched to 3.20.
When I start some MP levels, there are items that seems to be missing the model, so I just see a widget there instead...
Any ideas?
I have installed KmQuake2 over the install to get the game working properly with the graphics...

Re: Missing models in Quake2.
KmQuake2 is just Q2E 1.40 with a couple of new things and some poor coding in spots. *cough*
Anyway, start it up with default classic Quake 2 (Which should at the very least work in software but it should work in hardware also) and see if the models are still missing. If they are, then its missing files (Which should be there if you have the MP maps loading) but if not then you know its a KmQuake2 issue.

Re: Missing models in Quake2.
I think the KM addded some kinds of powerups to the MP that are missing, like the runes in Q1 - Regen and shit...
I'm not gonna play MP anyway, but it's annoying installing things that seems to be semi broken...
And the reason why I had to do it was because the game kept crashing when I switched to default OpenGL... then I found the richGL thing, didn't get it to work...
With KM I can set my graphics to 1920 and also I get that fancy little bloom thingie.
I don't want high res packs and shit, I just want these old games to look crisp and clear, with some perhaps added effects...
Like if I play ezQuake---
Some of these old games are the best games ever made and they sure can keep that up today with all these shitty titles being released one after another, but playing them in software or like half-working GL's not an option for me.
Standard GLQuake doesn't even let me change the fov (if I remember correctly)...

Re: Missing models in Quake2.
You can use any resolution you want in Q2E with r_mode -1 and r_customHeight / r_customWidth.
Re: Missing models in Quake2.
yea yea.. like always...
But where do I get Q2E then?

Re: Missing models in Quake2.
Have you tried installing the latest version of OpenGL?
That's likely to be more compatible with your graphics card and/or its driver. It seems that Detonator drivers for Nvidia cards are always good.
Also, once you've got it working in OpenGL, I recommend Q2E.
You'll have OpenAL aswell, then
(Meaning: you get it for Q2E and it's good.)
You should be able to find Q2E somewhere on O'dium's site, or a link to a version of it that is a broken link but gives you a filename to search for.

Re: Missing models in Quake2.
Missing assets has nothing to do with which drivers you're running.DTS wrote:Have you tried installing the latest version of OpenGL?

Re: Missing models in Quake2.
He said something about having problems with OpenGL, that's why I said that.
