I didnt ever say the DS wasnt fun. Infact i said it was, just only for
about 2 hours then the game and novelty wears off. Mercury i have
been playin all day and its so fun its silly, and it lasts!!
Now the graphics are good on it but not amazing, but its the fact
its an adictive game that gets me. Nothing i have played on the
DS has made me want to play it as much as Mercury has for the PSP

That's odd, you seem to be including me, the person who posted several lines on how it was important to consider the DS independantly of the PSPEraser wrote:The hypocricy with a lot of you people is that if Sony never released the PSP, the DS would be "the most awesome handheld ever" instead of a "desperate attempt to regain some market".
It has been released at the same time. It's the PSPs competitor. That's not rocket science.Oh and the DS isn't supposed to be the PSP's direct competitor.
Sure, which is why it'll likely be released 18+ months after the PSP, and the DS was released in paralell. The GBA 2 (or whatever it's going to be called) will be.
It's ludicrous to argue that an as-yet-unreleased-unspecced-and-un-seen mystery console is going to be the direct competition to an already released system.
None of what you've said appears to be grounded in the reality of being a regular bod, looking at the options and realising that the DS is a flake.

just because you say something is so, doesnt mean it is. anytime people are consistently choosing between one product (DS) or the other (PSP)...those two products are competing.
Also, not competing? Of course! That's why there are so many consumers out there thinking 'hmm, DS vs PSP, which one?'.
Not competing :icon32:

It's reaffirming my opinion on the situation with every reply I read.Dr_Watson wrote:you couldn't leave this thread on page 2 could you. :icon6:
Which is good, becuase on the strength of what I think, I'll buy neither.

thats silly...what do you define "truly serious about their games" as?Mat Linnett wrote:People who are truly serious about their games will buy both.
More casual consumers will go with brand loyalty, and Sony is one of the biggest brands in the world.
i could say that if youre truly serious about games then you would have gotten the Turbo Express and NeoGeo. But since you didnt, youre not serious about games.
(hopes matt didnt get those so that i can prove my point :icon32: )
turbo express kills all handhelds... even the psp and ds.Chupacabra wrote:thats silly...what do you define "truly serious about their games" as?Mat Linnett wrote:People who are truly serious about their games will buy both.

Coming from the man who claimed original Quake was his favourite game ever but it didn't have straff jumping and that Resident Evil 4 had static pre-rendered backgrounds.Foo wrote:BUT UNLESS YOU OWN THEM BOTH YOUR NOT A SERIOUS GAMERMat Linnett wrote:And you're an idiot if you bought a Gizmondo...Foo wrote:You're not a serious gamer unless you've got a phantom and all the games for it.

No more dumb than stating, without much experience, that one system owns the other.
And the Gizmondo statement was part bait, part truth. They've already started posting losses. Granted, most tech companies post losses after releasing a new system, but with that and the failure of any of the promised games appearing, it's looking grim. It's just a version of Phantom that made it one step further.
In the end, I can appreciate Donny's opinions a lot more than Foo's.
I suspect Foo's mainly chucked his oar in in an attempt to troll, but his opinions come across as misinformed psuedo-intellectualism.
He's making a lot of bad statements without any real knowledge of that which he speaks.

Mat, i have spent a large amount of time playing both. I prefer the PSP to the DS because of the time i have spent with both.
The Gizmondo is doomed unfortunatly. Its too expensive to be a toy and not cool enough for everyone to want one.
It sucks, because they had come up with something really good imo.
