the only problem i have with deadwood is that most of the characters are probably illiterate... yet they all try to talk like they went to prep school. except swerangen, he keeps it pretty real.
i can understand farnam doing it, it works for him to try and pretend he's educated by using words he had no fucking clue about. but whores and claim jumpers shouldn't be pretending they have more than a 30 word vocabulary. it gets pretty annoying and unfitting of the characters after a while.

dont forget, this is in the 1870s when the majority of English spoken is derived from 'proper' English, so if someone uses a word or sentence structure you may not like or understand in no way does that make it unrealistic.
