I can understand the "all orange maps are getting on the nerves" thought. But I'll probably have a version of the
template_ae set done tomorrow, that you can color via shaders any way you like. By default it will be gray. Why mention this? Because a "standard" template set helps folks orientate better, i.e. the folks here are getting experienced with scale and sizes based on the texture set - what works and what works less well. If you use the default floor and wall "grid" everyone will see right away, e.g. doorways are possibly not wide enough, or ceiling could be higher, or the like.
Then again, I might just want to see the colored version of my set in a totally different map
To me personally, the Lego-look is ugly as a template texture set. Don't get me wrong I love Lego, but in a map, it's either meant to be weirdly experimental, an ironic statement in some strange way, or gives the map a "kiddie" look.
Then again, a standard template texture set might be too conformist... oh well
