LED vs plasma...
Re: LED vs plasma...
Do you guys mean LCD vs Plasma?
LED is just the backlighting method used on the most modern LCD tvs. From what I've seen on the shelves they are much thinner and produce more vibrant colours than other LCD TVs. The price is still a significant premium.
Plasmas are power-hungry and have a lower MTBF compared to LCD. Some manufacturers have wrapped up plasma production altogether.
Personally, I'd go with regular LCD or LED-backlit LCD if the price is no problem. Plasma's alright but I don't see anything to justify a break from the flow.

Re: LED vs plasma...
I've had a Plasma for several years now and never had problems with "screen burn" (even with the PS3 hooked up). The only way I can see someone doing permanent damage is by leaving a unchanging image on the screen for several hours. And that may not end up being permanent. As for the heat issue, it's not really an issue unless you're watching TV in a room the size of the box it came in. Just don't leave it running inside a sealed cabinet.
I say, get a Plasma. You'll get more screen and a better picture for the buck.

I used to get burn-in when my roommate either played xbox for 12 hours straight or fell asleep while playing xbox. But, after an hour it was always cleared up.

LCD's get burn in too, but it's usually easy to clear it. I went to use my mom's computer once and you could see her outlook express on the wallpaper of the desktop. Leaving a white image up took care of it tho.

Since we're on the subject of TVs, I just moved into a new apartment, and I'm about to hand my flatscreen on the wall. Anyone have any tip on how to hide the cables? Obviously since it's an apartment I can't run them in the wall, which would be ideal. The last apartment I lived in had a very industrious look, so I just attached some steel piping to the wall and ranthe cables in that. It looked good and fit right in. But that wouldn't work with this apartment. Just curious what solutions you guys have used to hide your cables...
Re: LED vs plasma...
just get some trunking and zip ties, you tool.
Re: LED vs plasma...
Trunking? Is that a British term?
Re: LED vs plasma...
No, it's a term used for a particular product which hides cables.........xer0s wrote:Trunking? Is that a British term?
