missing select features in GTK 1.5.0

Post by monaster »

Maybe it's better to start a new topic with that (posted it in another somehow related thread but didn't get any attention :paranoid: )
By the way, speaking of GTKRadiant settings: I've reinstalled GTKRadiant 1.5.0 (seems to be Spog's build what I had downloaded) because I changed to another computer for mapping and suddenly all the "select" features are gone. Select inside, select touching and so on. At least the two mentioned (inside and touching) were available in my former 1.5.0 installation (which lacked a few other features on its own part compared to my beloved 1.2.1 but whatever).
Interestingly editing the shortcuts.ini by adding "SelectInside=" as well as "SelectTouching=" didn't help much as my edits are set back as soon as I start up GTK 1.5.0. I also looked into several dirs and found the icons for all the select features are indeed existing inside the "bitmaps" dir. But they don't show up inside the editor itself. Is there anyone with a solution at hand? Or maybe someone knows about the "perfect" 1.5.0 build with all plugins already included (I have zero at the moment) and nearly as many features as 1.2.1 had back in the days?

Use shift + LMB drag to select anything. You can also do brush volume selection via the Edit > select inside and select touching.

Make the shortcuts.ini file read only to prevent the program from restoring it back to defaults.

All the same tools are still there, they've just been moved around a bit and some of the shortcuts have changed.

Then I must have got a completely fucked up build, which really really pisses me off right at the moment.
Setting the .ini file to "read only" worked (thanks!) because my changes didn't got deleted afterwards but still nothing changed inside GTKRadiant 1.5.0. The main problem is that the "select inside" and the "select touching" feature is NOWHERE to be found once I start up the editor. Not even under "Edit". So I guess that current 1.5.0 version shall burn in hell for its horrifc deed (giving me hope because I could install GTK without the infamous .\mainframe.ccp:610 assertion failure but now there are far more issues and not even a single tool is pre-installed) so I think the best solution for all that, because I don't want to start editing and changing any menus by changing the source code, is to ask for the best 1.5.0 build out there. I don't mind if there are any tools not installed yet, I should be able to figure out how to do this by myself, but I just want a GTKRadiant 1.5.0 that has every menu option available from the start (and not only the bitmaps in some dir), and that I can continue mapping for Q3 with. And for god's sake: if bspc and q3map2 are implemented they should WORK if started from 1.5.0.! One of the most annoying things was (and still is) being unable to compile maps inside 1.5.0 with q3map2 because suddenly errors are stated that never even appeared when compiling inside GTK 1.2.1 (also using q3map2 2.5.16) and additionally bspc only produced .aas files when using .bsp files compiled inside GTK 1.2.1., although both 1.2.1 and 1.5.0 use the same q3map2 version.
So please if there is anyone being the happiest man alive with his 1.5.0 build tell me where I can download it be it raven's or nightly or whatever, because my level of frustration with simply getting the editor working in a stable way has reached something between hardcore and nightmare. Plus, it makes me posting quite lenghty comments, sorry for that.

Dunno. I just download it here:

http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/files/ra ... -1.5.0.msi

and you'll also need this:

http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/files/ra ... -07-18.msi

Otherwise, NetRadiant:

Once again, you made my day ... or my night but that sounds a bit ... delicate.
I'll report once I've installed them! For now, good night everyone!

 There is only one version of GtkRadiant 1.5.0, unless you were using an older nightly build or something.

Must have been an old one, then. Or probably some "special" build someone has built for his/her very own purposes and uploaded it. Dunno. Should be settled with your downloads anyway. :D
