I think they have a point tbh. It's nice that the kid wants to go and that her parents are ok with it, but she's 13!
Aside from the question whether she's physically and mentally capable of pulling this off successfully (i doubt it very much), from what i understand it'll take ages and she'll miss a lot of school - at a point in her life where school is really important in shaping you as an individual. We have laws against that, tough shit. She can try when she's 16.

I think she shouldn't be allowed to go either. Aside from the question of the dangers and whether she's mentally, physically and intellectually capable of making this two year trip, she's in a period in her life that's tremendously important for her development.

I think it's incredibly dumb to let a child of that age sail across the world for two years. Especially for the reasons given.

A judge however has decided that her situation should first be assessed by pyschologists.
