Lost Series 5
Re: Lost Series 5
You know, child Ben is the wrong age for when Ben was born, so maybe Sayid didn't actually kill child Ben, but "child Ben".
Our Ben could be somebody who just assumed his name...
Blah Ive gone cross eyed again...

Re: Lost Series 5
why, exactly?
born in 65, he came on the island in 73, met richard, 4 years later he met sayid (hoping richard sent him), and 15 years later started the purge.
how is he the wrong age ?

Re: Lost Series 5
It's Ethan whose age jars a bit more than Ben's to be honest; he's born in 1977, but his present day character looks older than early thirties.
Re: Lost Series 5
Bah, Ben is still alive... Watch the latest Lost Untangled and it has a shot of young Ben in hospital with a chest wound...
Bah...
Bah...
Re: Lost Series 5
as if there was any doubt.
10 was kind of a filler ep imo.

Re: Lost Series 5
Yeah, Sayid should have emptied the clip in his head if he really wanted to kill him.
Re: Lost Series 5
And that would be a problem because everything else on the show has been logically consistent, right?
Re: Lost Series 5
i was sure i called the C3PO mind erase copout in this thread somewhere, but it seems i didnt
still, weak

Re: Lost Series 5
So it appears The Temple is in fact a pedophile sanctuary, where Alpert and the others bugger the innocence out of little boys and turn them into sadistic, weasel faced killers.

lol
Yeah...when he said,"He'd lose his innocence" I was sure Alpert was gonna rape him until the bleeding moved to his anus.

Ep 10 was a bit dull again imo :\
And oh yeah, i'd nearly forgotten about the rest of em and the silly flaming arrow-flee scene that made zero sense at the time. But i'm sure it will be revisited and poorly explained in another time travel episode.

when the writers hit a brick wall with a character they get rid of him/her

I liked it when the "explosives expert" blew himself up with the sweaty dynamite stick. That's way cooler than a smoke monster with a 50 year-old, ungreased ratcheting system.Tsakali wrote:it's the plot hole monsta!

Re: Lost Series 5
I thought the T-Rex was actually a machine. A series of sinkholes/pit traps in the ground and loudspeakers in the trees.

Re: Lost Series 5
I think the smoke monster and the T-Rex are two separate things, but I wouldn't be surprised if they both ended up being machines created by Dharma or the Others to deal with people.
Especially considering that with the whole time travel shit, some peeps from the way future could have used engineering knowledge to do some funky shiznit.

Very close.Turbanator wrote:Seems to obvious but an obvious plot line with the details provided would be Ben killed Penny, was interrupted by Desmond, got fucked up, escaped back to the island, Desmond couldn't make it to the flight and is boating in to the co-ordinates Mrs. Hawking provided as we speak to get revenge against Ben.
Without a doubt after tonight. Wasn't that Anubis on the carving in the temple?Jackal wrote:The show is definitely moving in an egyptian direction. Another thing to think about is Richard Alperts name possibly being a connection with Ra.
Maybe the smoke monster is Apep?
In Egyptian mythology, Apep (also spelled Apepi, and Aapep, or Apophis in Greek) was an evil demon, the deification of darkness and chaos (isfet in Egyptian), and thus opponent of light and Ma'at (order/truth), whose existence was believed from the Middle Kingdom onwards.

Re: Lost Series 5
Seems like dudeness who chills with smokey is definitely anubis, no queries about that... I think that the statue is a represenation of this "lady":
http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/images/h2/h2_04.2.365.jpg
Taweret, goddess of motherhood and wife of Apep, true god of evil. So we have the god of the underworld / afterlife, chilling with some black smokey thing, and we have the "woman" who's married to the most evil dude around, but is also the goddess of motherhood. Now say that people are afraid of Apep, would make sense to destroy his wifes statue right.... which might then have the collateral effect of preventing mothers from... erm... being mothers? Now in 1970 something, Horace's wife has a kid successfully, i think because the statue is still intact. Maybe it's destroyed in the purge (unlikely) or "the incident"... (more likely).
Lets get back to smokey. He killed Eko but spared Ben... well... difference is, that Ben repented for his sins, Eko did not, least not to smokey. Eko stood tall and brave to smokey and was punished for it. I remember when Eko was first killed I saw some images of smokey "enhanced" (high brightness etc) and the darkness showed images from Eko's past, much like Ben was shown images of his past. So long story short, if a big black smoke monster comes up to you and shows you shit you've done wrong in your life, say sorry and cry a little and all will be okay.

Re: Lost Series 5
smokey let eko live the first time they met. that what gave it an extra dimension. it was in that scene you could see eko's past.
also, ben in the smoke being judged whilst holding a cane felt very biblical to me.
