am i the only one that thought that pan's labyrinth was very overrated?Mat Linnett wrote:I thought Apocalypto and Pan's Labyrinth both looked absolutely outstanding on Blu Ray. Damn good movies too.
Edit: Cheers for the tip on Zulu Pauly, I'll look at picking that up.

Yeah getting Iron Man, Indy 4 and Dark Knight on Blu for crimbo...
I've heard nothing but good shit about Iron Mans quality... And then even more good shit about Dark Knight. Dark Knight is THE standard.

Re: So Blu-ray...
It's a shame the film's boring after the first watch.
Re: So Blu-ray...
Dark Knight? It was fine, good film. I'm hoping the BluRay/DVD has a few extra scenes that make the plot hold together a bit better, because it jumped around a little too much for ne at the cinema.

I've never understood buying movies.... I mean, how many time can you watch the same film? Why not get a sub to something like Netflicks and if you want to see something again, have them send it to you. At least with Netflicks you can watch thousands of other movies as well. Otherwise, you end up with a movie that sits on a shelf somewhere and might be watched two more times.

that's why I just download them, it's a waste of money

Re: So Blu-ray...
from what i read on the slickdeals forum sigorny weaver does a really good job too...though i'd rather have attenborough ("do you guys even know who he is?!?!??!?").
a big blow is that from what i read, the US versin has like 8 minutes cut from each episode to make time for commercials or some shit.

i watched, wildlife on one, all the time
Re: So Blu-ray...
It better be, I've seen most of it on Discovery HD Theater. I expect the blu-ray version to be at least as good since I know cable providers often re-encode HD for transmission in order to limit bandwidth.Scarface wrote:get the planet earth series. It's fucking stunning in hi-def
I've got it coming for x-mas, the real Attenborough ("do you guys even know who he is?!?!??!?") version.

Re: So Blu-ray...
it sucks that it's that way for some films, i agree. i always wait for a couple of BR reviews before i spend on any movie although i also bought The Dark Knight regardless of the transfer issue.Fender wrote:I guess that's my gripe. Why does part of this movie have an amazing transfer and part only marginal? It is almost like they didn't film the "regular" parts of the movie in high-def. Then they switch to the IMAX sequences and BAM! the quality is just amazing.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:depends on the transfer. i've yet to see a br that's 6x better. some are marginal at best and not worth re-buying.
I guess I'll just have to wait for x-mas to open BoB and Planet Earth. Those should look incredible.
edit: and Gyllenhaal is a troll compared to Katie Holmes, at least from the neck up.

Yeah. Modern Hi-Def and digital sound suck when compared to VHS and taped music.
