[Quake 2] [Tourney, FFA 3-4] spirit2dm2 --The arms of Lilith

Guess few people in here still care for Quake2, but anyway...

Ok, here's the Quake 2 map I've been working on for the last weeks. There were no public alpha or beta versions because I submitted it to a contest that didn't allow you to show the map to the public before the end of that contest.

It's a tourney map that has been designed with Q2W in mind, but this is the Quake 2 edition of the map and you can also give it a try at up to 4 players FFA for Q2. (You should really check out the Quake2World version of this map that comes with Q2W!)

The theme of the map is a chemical weapon plant and it's rather small and very vertical so expect liquids, pipes and brutal 1vs1 action.

Thanks go out to Rorshach who made most of the great textures and the Q2W team for testing the map with me. Special thanks go to Henneck, who played many good games against me on this map, starting at the very early and ugly alphas.

The map-file is released under the GPL and included in the pak.

Sweet. Didn't know people still map for Q2. Going to give it a spin this weekend (if I can persuade my friends to install the game again).

Oh, and is it just me or does Q2W have a very Q1/QW'ish feel to it?

There aren't that many Q2 mappers left I think, but some are still around. There recently was a Q2 mapping contest at the Quake 2 Cafe. I made this map for that contest. A short look at jester's maps should convince you that some people still create great maps for Q2.

And yes, Q2W certainly has a feel of QW to it. Did you give it a try? You can type 'map lilith' in the Q2W in-game console to play the Q2W version of this map, it's in svn. I'll add normalmaps for the textures and fix some small bugs soon, quite busy with university atm.

I don't play Q2, but I have to say that from the screenshots the map looks very nice. Looks like it has a lot of vertical action going on. Textures are spot on :)
