PHOTOS PLEASE
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
form how long was that exposure? I can't get over how those flowers ended up...you said refractions. Was the original flower behind the droplets then? I'm trying to visualize the spacing of droplets/leaf blade/flower that would produce that. Can you elaborate on this? This is one of the most amazing pics I've ever seen from a technical standpoint (but I'm a total photo idiot so I don't even know what is difficult and what isn't.) I'd like to use this in a discussion on reflection/refraction sometime in class, that's why I'd like those details if you have them. If not, no biggie. Still an amazing pic and something that pretty much anyone near my computer is called over to look at.
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Every single waterdrop acts likes a magnifying lens for the subject behind it. In this case the sunflower which you can see the bokeh as background.

cheers! this pic is definitely best of thread so farForM wrote:seremtan wrote:ummm, if you're doing requests on res, is a 1920x1200 possible?
Had a hell of a time finding a host that wouldnt resize or destroy the information at full size.
This will fix everyone up. Full size, even for the pixel peepers. 2653px × 1790px (Ahaha ha ha ha)
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
tnf, saturn is correct that the water droplets act as magnifiers.
The only trick is to be able to focus on that small water droplet. And indeed the Sunflower is the backdrop for the image as saturn also pointed out..
There is two ways one could produce such a photo. One would be to lay in wait in the early morning or after a rain and get yourself soaked as you try to compose a shot like this. I have tried, and the efforts were less than satisfactory. Not to mention I got all wet for basicly nothing. But I did pull a couple that were ok with small Jumping spiders in them, just did not see them as worthy to post. (I'm pretty particular about what I like to post.)
Or, one could "Set Up" the shot as I did with this particular shot or "Studio Shoot" it, if you will. A result I was very proud of.
The particulars:
Canon Rebel XTi or 400D as some call it
Canon 60mm Macro Lens
Kenko Tubes 36mm and 12mm combined
Shutter Speed 1/200Sec.
Aperture Value F11
Centerweighted average metering
Exposure Compensation 0
ISO Speed 100
Five shots for Focus Stacking useing CombineZM (to get almost all the little droplets in focus)
My only regret with this shot is it dont have blue in the dewdrops as opposed to black, but it looks good other wise.

Another Swamp Pic.........
Milk Weed flowers are in bloom and I love the pastel lavender/purple color of them. Just trying to show there's beauty even in a weed.
Yes it's another Dewdrop Refraction. (almost the same set up as above)

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
how are you getting on with focus stacking? i hear it's a pain in the ass to do.
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
There are lots of broken lvlshots in the 1st 15 pages or so. Any chance of fixing that tag so that the images display again?

It is indeed a pain in the ass. However manual alignment makes it a tad easier, but if your aliment is off a few pixels you get things where there not supposed to be. It is pretty demanding on exactness.
However its worth it to learn and reattempt if the results are less than satisfactory, ie the Sunflower shot. I worked on that one for almost two hours till I got it all to line up like it should have. Bear in mind it was my 10th attempt at it after previous projects, but all the earlier attempts did teach me a lot to make me keep working with it.
It's definitely a photo enthusiasts friend in macro.
Keep posting pics kids.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
This is actually a very good picture. It just needs a bit of cropping to focus the main element...and it's better than you can do Mr.Pirate.Captain Mazda wrote:I'd say don't quit your day job, but you're probably bad at that tooDoombrain wrote:[lvlshot]http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3271/2813621465_2fc16431e7_b.jpg[/lvlshot]

returning to our scheduled programme...

i've lived in this town a total of 18 years and this is the first time i've ever set foot in this church, or gone up to the roof of the tower (even though drunk coffee a zillion times from the AMT kiosk just below it)
