Well no shit.
That's not the only reason either - they both catch different parts of programs, and they both have different scanning mechanisms and approach the cleaning in a completely different way.
But since you're the resident expert on spyware apps, I don't need to tell you that.
If you've got a point to make, why not just say it? What's the deal with everybody trying to condescend about geeky software? :icon27:

haha never said i was the expert, i have both, but normally just use adaware.
referring to scanning mechanisms, both can be set up from root scans and beyond, but most people just point and click "next", "scan", etc, without bothering to check out the advanced settings/options. oh, but i'm sure you already knew that.

I never tried to say one was better than the other, you just inferred that. I just said that SpyBot catches things that AdAware doesn't, which is why I run both of them, as you can see in the screenshot.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:yeah, the routines are different as is MS's beta (which sucks, btw), but i don't see Spybot having a better scanning technique than Adaware. imo, one's got more eye candy than the other and that's about it. it's not as easy to compare as say, browsers are.

didn't look at your screenshot. just saw your post regarding Spybot. i don't see why you would say that then and still run Adaware. if Spybot finds stuff Adaware doesn't and you have both installed, then Adaware finds stuff that Spybot doesn't also, but i didn't see you saying that.R00k wrote:I never tried to say one was better than the other, you just inferred that. Yeah just email the guy and and let him know which sizes you want.saturn wrote:dmmh posted a site where i got some great fractals from: http://exoteric.roach.org/bg/index.htmlNightshade wrote:Quality, Mandelbrot sets.saturn wrote:

He says, "(up to two sizes only)". So I asked for 1600x1200 & 2048x1536.
Got a response within 2 days and he emailed a link to download the zips.
Sweet deal and some really nice images.

Surely you're not serious.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:that's a good way to skirt it.R00k wrote:Because he didn't ask about Ad Aware, he asked what SpyBot was!
I have AdAware and SpyBot both in my little shortcut menu. He asks what SpyBot is. I tell him it's basically like AdAware, but catches some things that AdAware doesn't. Since I've got them both installed, it's obvious that I don't prefer it exclusively over AdAware (which you've said yourself).
But you think I have somehow intentionally implied that SpyBot is better, and I am refusing to admit that I meant to imply that?
What is this, fucking application espionage or something? :icon27:

Spybot, Adaware, HijackThis, and the Microsoft tool all find different things. Some don't count, like Adaware thinking your homepage being about:blank is a virushackerwormbomb or whatever, but they all find different things.
Using all of those, deleting your cache and temp folders, running regcleaner and whatever else you can find should do the trick.
Older shot, 25% of actual size. I don't want people reading my book (yet) or personal notes.
