Jade Empire (greatest RPG on the xbox)

Post by saturn »

Made by Bioware (KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights, MDK2, Baldur's Gate) and it's going to be released next week on the Xbox.

It's an RPG set in a fictional empire in old China. Ah well, read the review. IGN is giving it a 9.9

Closing comment
I could write considerably more on what makes Jade Empire a great game. It is an early leader for RPG of the year, if not overall game of the year. And it ranks among the best Xbox games on the market. This isn't just a great RPG, it is also a brilliant action game that casual gamers can pick up and enjoy.

The real joy of Jade Empire comes from the hundreds of details that couldn't possibly be covered in a review: how a character centers himself after battle, humorous references to pop culture, and the spot-on re-creation of the many fighting styles. The only way to grasp how much effort has been put into this game is to experience it yourself, so stop reading and go pick up the game, an empire awaits.
Another comment from a reviewer (wow!)
It's a strange thing to consider, but I believe David Clayman may have underrated Jade Empire at a 9.9. There is no such thing as the perfect game, but there are a few rare gaming experiences that so transcend any failings, they might as well be considered perfect. KOTOR was easy to love, but it had a lot of faults. The genius of that game so outweighed the annoying issues that it remains a classic for just about every RPG fan. Guess what -- Jade's story is better, its combat system superior and its morality system is more complex than KOTOR.

We need more futuristic games, why do people make so many 'past' and/or 'present' games :p Although it does sound slightly good.

maybe I'll wait till odium gives his final verdict on this game, it must have enough shaders and polygoons!

Just be careful DB. I know you weren't particularly fond of Knights of the Old Republic, and I reckon there'll be elements of the same system of role-playing in this...

I hope not. Doing the same thing over and over on different planets really pissed me off.

*lol* No I have trouble hearing*lol*
Some of the games I buy everything is spoken with no captioning makes them difficult to play. The review says captioning is avaialabe in the game which means I can play it :)

Bump:
Now that it's out, anyone have it?
I bought Fable finally and am really enjoying it. I haven't played an RPG in the longest time, it's a bit refreshing. Most RPGs really aren't my thing, but these adventure/action RPGs suit me quite well.

Bills are a little high this month, but hopefully I'll pick it up in a couple weeks. It really does look excellent.
