build it from scratch, solid bodies make sense, even the type of wood matters.

fuck, nice work Jazz
Re: Guitar people
Holy fuck man, nice guitar! I love the staggered string-holes behind the bridge. Is that for looks or for intonation?
How much did all that cost you? I've been looking for a nice strat style guitar for a while.. *wink, wink*

Re: Guitar people
string-holes were the cheaper alternative to a full bridge, also easier to mount. It also has an effect on intonation, especially for rock style play. It cost me arruond 200€, but the problem is making it. Making the body out of wood is easy, cutting it is like making a hole for the sink in a kitchen, sanding it is mostly done by hand and also pretty easy but then it comes to routing the holes for the pickguard etc. and then it gets really difficult. You have to know lots about wood work to get the routing right. I can tell you its a pain in the ass to get it right. making a neck is also very hard. Thats why i never even tried it. This is a neck from an old "hohner ferrari" (some gay 80ies metalish guitar crap, but it had a decent neck and ebay made it cheapmrd wrote:Holy fuck man, nice guitar!
