Hello once again! The thing is that I am not able to start an own map done exclusively for team deathmatch, so there's no ffa no tourney AND no ctf to be expexcted for that map.
I've already put in 4 team_CTF_bluespawn as well as 4 team_CTF_blueplayer and did the same for the red team. The info_player_intermission is set too (in the middle of red team's spawn points which form a circle). I didn't set an info_player_start as suggested in some faqs (like Bubba's) so that everyone(!) will start in spectator mode and has to choose a team first before being able to enter the arena (which would happen automatically if an info_player_start would have been installed).
I already have tried launching that map on pure_0 and inside a pk3 but everytime the thing's loaded I'm transported back to the main menu with my console stating that there's NO SPAWN POINT available. Does anyone have a clue why I constantly get that error message?
And would it be possible to create a map which lets you access every game type (1-4=ffa,tdm,ctf and tourney) with still having nothing changed at the things said above meaning that if you play tdm with this "allround map" the players would ALWAYS start in spectator mode? (Maybe something with notfree parametres and the like?)

IIRC, team spawns are used for CTF only since you start them in their respective bases. TDM spawns players randomly throughout the map so you just use normal deathmatch spawns. Otherwise, it would suck to know exactly where the enemy spawns and just camp it all day long.

Forget the last question, it became unimportant due to your explanation of how dtm spawns work. In case you're still interested in the meaning
: I wanted to know if (when starting a tdm) there's a way to let each player spawn in spectator mode at first and only THEN allowing him to choose his team (red or blue). Still, the map should provide gameplay for every other type like ffa tournament and ctf, which is defined in the .arena file.

So I've had 4 team_ctf_blueplayer and 4 team_ctf_bluespawn installed as well as 4 team_ctf_redplayer and 4 team_ctf_redspawn and finally 1 info_player_intermission. What for? I'm trying to make a team deathmatch only map structured like a ctf game without flags. Why? Because I want to have the blue team and the red team starting at specific points in my map to create something like "bases" - well, bases without flags as I had said already. That's why I don't use any info_player_start entities because they are not teamspecific.
The problem is now that I can't join teams. The map would start with you being in spectator mode, but when you try to get either into red or blue team you're transported back into the main menu stating that there's no spawn point.
So what am I doing wrong?

Like I said above, you HAVE to use deathmatch spawns with a TDM game. You are loading it up in TDM mode it will only look for deatchmatch spawns, but you obviously don't have any, therefore it reports the NO SPAWNPOINTS AVAILABLE error.
Even if it did work like you wanted (which it doesn't), as I also said above, spawning players in specific places is a bad idea since the other team can just camp the enemy spawnpoints for easy kills.

That's a pity. I had even had a map where camping would have been useless
... whatever! It seems that I have to take that idea six feet under.
