Re: Googlepedia..
wikipedia falls short often enough to be considered a weak if not unacceptable source in most of academia.
if the google implementation is based on the same principles, i don't really know how it's going to be any better.

it's for people who want a quick answer to one of those kinds of questions that come up randomly, like "what's the capital of suriname?" or "what's that condition called when you only have one testicle?"
Re: Googlepedia..
the only thing i like about wikipedia is that most of the pictures posted on the pages are a decently high resolution
Re: Googlepedia..
They're trying to counter this through accountability. It's not an "encyclopedia that anyone can edit", it's an encyclopedia that only certain people who are experts in their field and have been verified as such can edit.Underpants? wrote:wikipedia falls short often enough to be considered a weak if not unacceptable source in most of academia.

At the moment it's pretty loaded down with medical articles which I guess could have been expected due to its focus, but I don't think we'll be seeing any 2,000 word articles on Weezer's Pork and Beans single on it any time soon.

wikipedia is also the best math resource on the web
